The Department of Public Works is encouraging Milwaukee residents to begin raking their leaves onto the street for collection. Fall leaf pick-up officially runs from October 1 through November 15 — after that, crews will pick up only as long as weather permits, or residents can visit a Milwaukee Self-Help Recycle Center.
Points to remember:
-Put Halloween pumpkins in your green garbage cart or on a compost pile, not on leaf piles in the street.
-Please keep debris, such as flowers and vegetable plants on top of your leaf piles at the curb
-Keep leaf piles away from storm drains and sewer grates.
-Do not put leaves in plastic bags, or in your garbage carts.
-Do not put brush in the street.
