The Mayor has signed legislation that I co-sponsored that makes our district one of only five districts in the city to have both sides of the street parking in the winter time for those streets that have both sides of the street parking in the non-winter time. This legislation will effectively start December 1st of this year.
Moreover, I have asked the Department of Public Works (DPW) to study our entire district to identify streets that presently don’t have both sides of the street parking that could qualify for both sides of the street parking. Once I get that list I will introduce legislation making our entire district both sides of the street parking minus the streets identified by DPW.
This is a major departure from the parking practices in this city for generations. And this will be another quality of life enhancement for our district. It should be noted that we are one of the few districts in the city making these sweeping changes. I pushed for this because I know that expanding the parking and reducing the amount of parking tickets is a major concern.
