A year and a half in the making, the new public art bus shelter was unveiled in October, 2014, at the intersection of Kinnickinnic, Lincoln and Howell. It is 32 feet tall and provides the area with colorful changing mood lighting while being powered by 100% renewable energy! Because this project promises to be such a draw for the surrounding businesses, the KinnicKinnic Avenue Business Improvement District voted to maintain any ongoing maintenance costs associated with this project. That means no taxpayer dollars are used in the upkeep while the neighborhood experiences a significant quality of life increase. Taxpayers will also be pleased to hear that the lion’s share of the construction costs came from the estate of Mr. Dombrowski who bequeathed his entire estate to the Department of Public Works.
