The City of Milwaukee and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) are proposing the reconstruction of the South Whitnall Avenue Bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad, located between East Holt Avenue and East Ohio Avenue. The construction on this project is expected to start in May 2014 and be completed in November 2014.
The proposed improvement will include removal and replacement of the entire bridge structure, including piers and some approach roadway on each side of the bridge. One hundred feet of the southerly approach and one hundred thirty feet of the northerly approach will be reconstructed. Sidewalks in the project area will also be replaced.
South Whitnall Avenue will be closed to traffic during construction. Traffic will be detoured during the construction. The project limits do not extend to any driveway approaches.
There is a neighborhood meeting for Thursday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. The location is the Milwaukee Center-Independence, 3333 South Howell Avenue. Please enter in back by wheel chair ramp.
